Holy Cross Lutheran Church Staff
Leadership in the Holy Cross family can best be described as an integrated relationship between congregational volunteers and ministerial staff.

Randy Casey

Director of Music

Randy Casey became the Director of Music at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Dec. 1, 1991. His role has been somewhat the same since he started, his two primary responsibilities being to play for worship services and to lead the Holy Cross Choir. With regard to the worship services, Randy has placed his Steinway grand piano and his digital harpsichord in the church sanctuary to be used as needed to go along the church's fine organ. In addition, he directed a purchase of three timpani for use for festival services and for larger works.

Ultimately Randy's greatest accomplishment will have been to increase the choir library to more than 500 titles of anthems and larger choral works, which can be reviewed on an alphabetical index by title. Highlights over the years have been presentations of such works Britten's NOYE'S FLUDDE, Menotti's AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS, the Vaughan Williams' HODIE, and several Bach cantatas.

In June of 2013 Randy led the Holy Cross Choir on a trip to Germany where several Bach and Luther sites were visited. Singing for Sunday services in Wittenberg and Bamberg were two high points of the tour. With respect to ongoing trips to Germany, Randy is now studying diligently to learn the German language. An extended time in Germany in the summer of 2015 should enhance that effort considerably
When not at church Randy is busy as a freelance musician in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Randy can be reached at randy@holycrosschurch.org or via the church office.
